ABOUT HEADWATERS ENGINEERING

Headwaters Engineering is a full-service Civil Engineering company with a broad range of project experience located in Bozeman, Montana. Headwaters prides itself on providing high quality products on time, on budget, and customized to each client’s needs. Utilizing expertise in a large spectrum of services allows Headwaters to provide different perspectives to aid in expediting schedules and overcoming project hurdles.

Jeremy May

is the principal and is a Professional Engineer who has been serving the Gallatin Valley and Southwest Montana for over 20 years. When Jeremy is not working, he is spending time with his two kids and amazing wife, Heather. They enjoy camping, boating, hunting, fishing, and exploring our beautiful state while chasing their kids around while they are playing sports.




Jeremy is a fourth generation Montanan who comes from a family of farmers and general contractors. Jeremy moved from the farm to attend MSU and following graduation chose Bozeman as the place he wanted to grow a business and raise a family.

Garrett Schultz

is a Project Manager and Civil Design Engineer at Headwaters. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer, serving in the industry for 12 years, spending most of that time in the Gallatin Valley. Garrett works on a range of diverse projects, serving clients in Madison, Jefferson, Park, and Gallatin Counties, working on everything land development, site development, and infrastructure. Garrett also spent 2 years in Gillette, WY, working mostly on city water, sewer, road, and airport improvement projects.



Garrett serves as a Vice President of the Western Branch of the Montana Section of ASCE, sits on the Board of Directors for Bozeman Youth Baseball, and is the incoming President of a residential community HOA Board of Directors in Madison County.


Garrett and his wife Jessica, who is a teacher for the Bozeman School District, have four kids, who are active in all things sports. Garrett and his boys have a passion for hunting, especially elk.

Ryan Estep

is a Senior Civil Design and Project Engineer for Headwaters. He is a licensed Professional Engineer, and has worked in the Gallatin Valley since his graduating from MSU in 2018. His work has included projects ranging from airport infrastructure to residential subdivisions and stream restoration.




Ryan is a Montana native, and grew up in Helena prior to moving to Bozeman to pursue an engineering degree. Outside of work, he is most at home in the Montana mountains and backcountry - hunting, exploring wild country, or camping with his wife and son, which he considers some of his favorite adventures.

Daniel Hulsebusch

is a Senior Design Engineer for Headwaters.  Daniel graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science.  He has a wide range of experience designing municipal infrastructure, subdivisions, and commercial developments.


Originally from Pennsylvania, Daniel moved to Texas to finish high school and attend college at UTSA.  After graduating, he decided he wanted to live in Montana and in 2020, he made the move to the last best place. Outside of work, Daniel enjoys a variety of activities that include training Jiu Jitsu / Muay Thai, camping, snowboarding, fishing, hunting, and woodworking.

Austin Belluscio

 is a Civil Design Engineer for Headwaters. Austin graduated from MSU with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2021 and has mainly focused on design of municipal infrastructure, land development, and construction oversight for projects across the Gallatin Valley. Originally from California, Austin moved to Bozeman for school and is a local musician who has played with various musical groups all over the Pacific Northwest. He also enjoys many outdoor activities including mountain biking, skiing and backpacking.

Josh Guymon

Since graduating from MSU in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, he has been working in water/wastewater and private development. Originally from Oklahoma, Josh moved around the country with the U. S. Navy, finally finding a home when he moved to Montana to fight fire with a veteran hand crew. When he is not working, Josh loves to hike, hunt, and fish with his wife and son.

Jack Hitchcock

is a field engineer for Headwaters. He graduated from MSU in 2024 and is mostly involved with our land development and river restoration projects. Originally from western New York, Jack also went to high school in the Bahamas and then came to Montana to live in the last best place. When he’s not in the office, Jack is consumed with the outdoors and enjoys archery hunting and fly fishing in the remote backcountry of Montana.
